This 1952 MG TD was acquired by the previous owner as a rolling project in 2019, and a subsequent refurbishment was completed in 2020. Work involved repainting the body in black, reupholstering the seats in red leather, rebuilding the 1,250cc XPAG inline-four and the four-speed manual transmission, and replacing the black soft top and the wiring. Features include 15″ steel wheels, hubcaps, driving lights, wind wings, windshield-mounted mirrors, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a wood dashboard, lap belts, and an aftermarket stereo. The selling dealer acquired the car out of indoor storage in early 2025 and replaced the clutch slave cylinder in preparation for the sale. This TD is now offered in Nevada at no reserve with refurbishment photos, side curtains, a tool kit, and a clean California title.
The car was stripped to bare metal around January 2020 and was repainted in black by May 2020. The Haartz Stayfast black folding soft top was replaced during the refurbishment, and the chrome was redone. Features include driving lights, a louvered hood, a folding windshield, windshield-mounted mirrors, wind wings, running boards, and chrome bumpers with overriders.
Silver-finished 15″ steel wheels wear polished hubcaps and are mounted with 165R15 Kelly Metric Radial tires. A spare wheel with a Firestone tire is affixed to the rear. Braking is handled by drums at each corner. The brakes were overhauled and the tires were replaced during the refurbishment.
The cabin houses a split bench seat that was retrimmed in red leather during the refurbishment, and the wood dashboard was sanded and refinished. Appointments include door-panel map pockets, lap belts, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, and black carpeting. An aftermarket stereo is positioned beneath the glovebox.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel is attached to an adjustable column. Jaeger instrumentation consists of a 100-mph speedometer, a tachometer with an inset clock, and a combination gauge for oil pressure and coolant temperature, which are complemented by a Lucas ammeter. The five-digit odometer shows 19k miles, approximately 250 of which were added by the selling dealer. The seller states that the odometer reading is not accurate, and true mileage is unknown.
The 1,250cc XPAG inline-four is equipped with dual SU carburetors and was factory rated at 54 horsepower. The engine was rebuilt in 2020, the electrical system was rewired, and the cooling system was refurbished.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The transmission and the clutch were rebuilt in 2020. The seller replaced the clutch slave cylinder in early 2025.
Photos captured during the refurbishment are provided in the gallery below.
The chassis number is TD11583, whereas the title cites the engine number listed on the identification tag shown above: XPAGTD2LHX12003.
