1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Sunliner

    57' Ford Fairlane 500 Sunliner

    About This Car

This 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Sunliner was built in Long Beach, California, and is said to have remained in the state until it was acquired by the selling dealer in Nevada in 2025. The prior owner is said to have commissioned refurbishment work over the course of two decades that included repainting the body in black, installing a replacement white convertible top and top motor, and overhauling the drum brake system. Power is provided by a 312ci Thunderbird V8 that is said to have been rebuilt, as well, and is linked to a two-speed automatic transmission. The interior has been re-trimmed in black and white and features a power-adjustable front bench, an AM radio, power windows, and front lap belts. This Fairlane Sunliner is now offered at no reserve in Nevada with a clean California title.

The body was refinished in black during the refurbishment work, which also included the installation of a replacement white soft top, hydraulic top motor, weatherstripping and seals, and emblems. The selling dealer notes the bumpers and moldings were re-plated in chrome, and the exhaust system terminates with dual chrome tips. A black top boot will accompany the car.

The 14″ steel wheels feature full covers and are mounted with 6.00-14 BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewall tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted drums that were overhauled during the refurbishment.

The re-trimmed cabin houses a power-adjustable front bench seat that was reupholstered during the refurbishment in white and black along with a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpeting. Amenities include power windows, front passenger seat belts, an AM radio, and a heater. The power window motors were replaced and the radio was repaired, and the selling dealer notes the power seat adjustment is not working.

The three-spoke steering wheel wears a chrome horn ring and fronts a sweeping 120-mph speedometer flanked by gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 21k miles, approximately 200 of which were added under current ownership. The selling dealer states the odometer reading is not accurate, and total mileage is unknown.

The 312ci V8 was factory equipped with a four-barrel carburetor and was rated at 245 horsepower when new. The engine and carburetor have been rebuilt according to the seller, and the engine is equipped with Thunderbird-branded valve covers.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a two-speed Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission that was rebuilt during the refurbishment according to the seller, who also notes the exhaust system was replaced.
